One Rep At A Time
Oct 08, 2025It’s just one of those days…you don’t want to get up…
I won’t write out all the lyrics of that song, but IYKYK.
And today is one of those days.
A day where my emotions are uncomfortable, my thoughts want to hijack and control the day.
So I lean into my systems. My morning core four habits. My system of training for the next running event on my calendar. My system of my task list with my business.
Because in what feels like a raging current in the river of life today, I know that I just have to keep my head above water. The current cannot rage this hard for long. The calm is coming.
Today it’s just a couple of pull-ups, as I train for an upcoming Spartan 10k obstacle run.
And I think about how far I have come in the past few years. Where I can do pull-ups consistently and steadily.
Only 2 years ago, I was just starting.
Just like 2 years ago, I was just starting my recovery journey.
And it is a daily process. The dailyness of recovery, and the dailyness of strength training.
And today I get another rep in, both for pull-ups, and for recovery.
